A high school student was killed in a car accident that happened in Brunswick County.

Details about the Fatal Car Accident

WBTV News is reporting that 18-year-old Lily Beatini, of Oak Island, was killed in a car accident that happened on Highway 87 near Cougar Road on Wednesday morning when she was on her way to South Brunswick High School at the time of the accident.

The Boiling Spring Lakes Police Chief has indicated that a preliminary investigation into the accident indicated that Beatini lost control of her vehicle, over corrected, and then crossed over the center lane before colliding with a waste industries truck. The driver of the truck was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The police chief does not believe that speed was a factor in the accident. At this time, it is uncertain what caused Lily to lose control of her vehicle, but an investigation into the cause and circumstances of the accident remains ongoing at this time.
