Holmes Street Explosion Update- 1 Dead, 1 Remains in Burn Unit
According to news reports, Robert Farley, 60 has died and Ryan Conner, 25, remains in a San Antonio hospital being treated for burns suffered as the result of suspected natural gas explosion in Corpus Christi, Texas. Conner also suffers from broken bones and a head injury.
The explosion leveled one house, significatnly damaged 3 others, and reached an apartment complex a hundred yards away. The last thing the resident of the leveled house recalls is lighting a cigarette. Authorities have reported broken windows and busted doors up to 3 blocks away.
Injuries Sustained in Home Explosion
- Mr. Farley was thrown back by the blast and suffered severe burns to his upper body; he was pronounced dead on Wednesday (July 17, 2013).
- Mr. Conner was also burned severely, sustained several broken bones and a possible brain injury.
- A third man was treated at the scene, but declined further treatment.
Authorities know the fire originated inside the leveled home, and believe the explosion was the result of natural gas build up inside the house. The final decision should be made by investegators sometime this week.
