Honda Recalls 7,400 Acura RLX Sedans

Destiny Baker3 years ago

According to the New York Times, the American Honda Motor Company has issued a voluntary recall for nearly 7,400 2014 Acura RLX models.

About the Acura Recall

  • Honda has stated that the recall will take place due to a rear suspension problem that could result in steering difficulties.
  • During the assembly of the cars at a Japanese plant, rear lower-control arm bolts were improperly tightened.
  • The auto maker warns that should the bolts loosen, drivers “may have difficulty maintaining steering control” increasing the risk of crash.
  • Honda has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Recommended Consumer Action

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drivers should be able to identify the problem through excessive or alarming noise created by the loosening of the bolts.

Honda will begin to notify consumers in January, after which dealers will inspect the vehicles, tightening the bolts if necessary.

Though the recall is considered violuntary, auto manufacturers are required to report any safety issue to the NHTSA within five days of its discovery or the company may face penalties includine fines.
