Honda Takes a Big Hit After Takata Air Bag Recall

Chelcy Williams10 months ago

Since Takata’s announcement of its air bag recall, Honda has taken a big hit as it leads in the largest number of models affected.

Details of the Takata Recall

Honda is the largest auto manufacturer affected by the air bag recall with nine of its models currently affected, according to CNBC. Fiat Chrysler is second with seven.

In addition to Honda and Fiat Chrysler, Toyota had five vehicles, and Ford, Mazda, Nissan, and Subaru tied with three each. Daimler vans, Mitsubishi and General Motors each had two models, while BMW and Daimler Trucks had one each.

The Takata air bag recall emerged after reports of the air bag inflators spewing metal shrapnel into drivers and passengers after too much force came to light. Takata attribute the problems with the air bags to faulty chemical interactions.

Deaths and Injuries

  • Eight people worldwide have been killed by the inflators
  • More than 100 injuries have been reported.
