Multiple sources are reporting that a 17-year-old student was transported to the hospital via helicopter on Monday morning after she was hit by a vehicle in Pasadena. The accident happened near South Houston High School in the 2800 block of Shaver and E. Edgebrook at around 7 a.m.

According to police in Pasadena, the two girls were running across the busy 5-lane highway when one of them was hit by a vehicle. The victim is a 17-year-old junior at the high school, and she suffered severe injuries, including head trauma and broken bones. The other teenager made it across the street without being hit.

The victim was transported to the hospital via helicopter.

According to Pasadena police, the driver of the vehicle who hit the girl stopped at the accident and is fully cooperating with authorities and investigators. The latest report is that the girl in the hospital is in stable condition.

The girls were not using a crosswalk at the time of the accident. Police further stated that it was still dark outside at the time of the accident and that the driver will not likely face any charges.
