Christine Eke3 years ago

According to reports, over 660,000 of Hyundai and Kia vehicles sold in South Korea are being recalled by the motor companies due to faulty brake switch issues. The motor companies speculate that recalls may occur in other countries as well.

Descrition of Faulty Brakes on Kia Vehicles

  • Recall covers a total of 662,519 models produced between 2007 and 2011.
  • This figure covers 15 different Hyundai and Kia models.
  • The potentially faulty brake switch could fail to activate stop lamps or fail to deactivate cruise control when the brake pedal was depressed, among other issues which could cause increased risk of collision.

History of Hyundai and Kia Recalls

  • This particular recall is South Korea’s largest recall to date.
  • Previously 160,000 of the motor companies’ vehicles have been recalled in South Korea.
  • More than 1.8 million of their vehicles in the United States have been recalled due to the same issue.
