Hyundai Recalls 27,500 Vehicles Due to Brake Issues

Destiny Baker3 years ago

According to the Houston Chronicle, Hyundai announced Monday that it would be recalling 27,500 Genesis vehicles following brake failure concerns.

About the Hyundai Genesis Recall

  • The recall came shortly after the U.S. Government opened an investigation into 40,000 2009 Hyundai Genesis models.
  • The current recall affects vehicles with a model year between 2009 and 2012.
  • The recall is in response to potential brake failures caused by a lack of corrosion inhibitor in the cars’ brake fluid.
  • This allows a gel to build up on the valves of the breaking system resulting in loss of brakes.
  • 37 complaints have been filed. Among these are a complaint in which brake failure resulted in a collision and another complaint in which the driver had to resort to their emergency brake which caused them to lose control of their vehicle.
  • Affected vehicles were sold between April 1, 2005 and March 16, 2012
