The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a worldwide recall by IKEA for 23 million wall lamps due to strangulation risks posed to children.

About the IKEA Lamp Recall

The recall affects eight different models of the companies’ SMILA-series wall-mounted lamps with 2.9 million sold in the U.S.

According to the CPSC, a 16-month-old child has died and a 15-month-old was injured after becoming entangled in the lamp’s cord after the cord was pulled into the crib.

Both cases occurred in Europe.
