IKEA Recalls Toy Drum Sets Due to a Choking Hazard

IKEA has issued a recall for approximately 2,000 LATTJO Tongue Drum and 1,300 LATTJO Drumstick toy drum sets after determingin the products pose a choking hazard to children.

Details of the IKEA Toy Drum Set Recalls

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), there have been six reports concerning easily detached rubber balls at the end of the drumsticks.

Both products were sold exclusively through IKEA stores across the nation as well as online at between November and December of last year.

IKEA suggests that the drum sets and drumsticks be taken away from the children and return both to the store for a full refund. 

Description of the LATTJO Tongue Drum Set

The following information was provided by the CPSC:

  • The LATTJO Tongue Drum is a solid birch rectangular-shaped drum with a turquoise-dot print on the front and two solid red circles on top.
  • The drum comes with a mallet with a turquoise colored handle and a black rubber ball on the end.
  • 'IKEA'and'LATTJO'are located on the pouch.
  • Units sold for roughly $10.
Description of the TATTJO Drumstick Set

The following information was provided by the CPSC:

  • The drumstick sets include two solid birch sticks, mallets, and two brushes.
  • Black rubber balls can be found on the ends of the drumsticks.
  • Units were sold in a turquoise pouch with red and white stripes .
  • 'IKEA' and 'LATTJO' are located on the pouch.
  • Units sold for roughly $15.
