Indiana Day Care Closed After Death of Child
The state of Indiana filed an injunction to close a day care in the city of Speedway, following the death of an infant.
Reason for Day Care Closing
According to FOX News, a baby was found unconscious in her car seat and later died at Miracles and Blessings Day Care in Speedway, Indiana.
Taliah Brigham was 10-months-old at the time of death which was reportedly caused after she slipped and her airway was obstructed. The Division of Family Resources, Family and Social Services Administration blame the day care, saying “the child’s death was a result of inadequate supervision.”
The state called the day care “an imminent danger to the health of a child.” Brigham’s death is still under investigation following her autopsy. In the meantime, the court filed an injunction to keep the day care closed.
Indiana’s Day Care Neglect and Abuse Policies
According to Indiana state law, all observations or suspicions of child abuse or neglect should be immediately reported to the Child Protective Services hotline.
All staff involved in the reported incident will follow the direction of Child Protective Services regarding completion of written reports.
Staff who are accused of child abuse may be suspended or given leave (with/without) pay, pending investigation of the accusation.
