Investigation of Fatal Arlington Bus Crash Continues

Authorities are continuing their investigation of a fatal Greyhound bus accident that left one person dead and 16 others injured.

Details of the Fatal Arlington Bus Accident

According to FOX News, the multi-vehicle crash occurred in Arlington, Texas early Sunday morning. Authorities were called to the scene around 5:30 a.m.

A female occupant of a vehicle struck by the bus was pronounced dead at the scene. A male occupant of the same vehicle sustained critical injuries.

Of the 42 occupants of the bus, at least 16 were injured. Fortunately, none of those injuries are considered life-threatening.

Authorities have not yet reported a cause for the accident, and the identities of those involved have not been released.

The following information was provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):

  • 3,534 people were killed in auto accidents in Texas in 2014 – a 3.7-percent increase from the 3,408 deaths reported in 2013.
  • 1,974 of those fatalities (55.86 percent) were attributed to collisions that occurred in rural areas of the state.
  • An additional 237,941 people were injured in traffic collisions in Texas in 2014, averaging to one injury every 2 minutes and 13 seconds.
  • TxDOT estimates a reportable crash occurred every 66 seconds 2014.
