Iowa Man Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run

The driver of a fatal hit-and-run accident that happened in August has finally been charged.

KCCI News 8 is reporting that a man in West Des Moines was arrested and had charges filed against him on Wednesday from a fatal hit-and-run accident that happened back in August.

37-year-old Ronald Paul Hauser, of Van Meter, was charged with fleeing the scene of an accident that resulted in the death of a person as well as Operating While Intoxicated as a first offense.

According to police, Hauser is charged in the death of 22-year-old Daulton Holly, of Troy, Tennessee.

Holly had been found lying on the side of the roadway already dead on the 6400 block of Raccoon River Drive on August 23. Holly has just arrived in Iowa two months before and was saving money for his wedding that was planned for next year, according to his family.

Police say that the arrest of Hauser happened after a long investigation in which they were assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s Crime Lab as well as the Dallas County Attorney’s Office.

Hauser submitted to the authorities on Tuesday and was processed and then released on bond.
