Jeep Recall: Hazardous Airbag

Gabrielle Babb4 years ago

Chrysler Group LLC has issued a recall for approximately 744, 822 Jeep Liberty and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles due to defective airbags.

About the Recall

The vehicles involved in the recall are outfitted with a faulty airbag control module that causes the front and side curtain airbags to deploy by mistake. Along with the airbags, the seat belt pretensioners may inadvertently deploy while the vehicle is in use. Vehicle users face an in increased risk of injury while operating the recalled Jeeps. Beginning in January 2013, Chrysler will notify Jeep owners of the recall, and dealers will begin installing supplemental jumper harnesses free of charge.

  • The recall also involves the Jeep Liberty model year 2002-2003 that was manufactured between January 9, 2001 and March 28, 2003.
