L.A. Mother and Daughter Stuck by Truck while Walking to School

Destiny Baker3 years ago
A woman is dead and her 9-year-old daughter is injured after being hit by a tractor-trailer along North Bronson Avenue in Los Angeles.

About the Fatal Semi-Pedestrian Accident

According to ABC News, the mother, who has not yet been identified, was walking her daughter to school when they were both hit by a semi truck in the 1300 block of North Bronson Avenue.

Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where the mother, unfortunately, died of her injuries. The child, a student at Citizens of the World Charger School, sustained minor injuries and is expected to recover.

While the cause of the accident has not yet been determined, parents and residents report that drivers often travel too fast in the area despite the fact that it is considered a school zone.

The school district claims that it requested a crossing guard for the intersection, but the Los Angeles Department of Transportation failed to meet their request.

Pedestrian Accident Statistics

  • Pedestrians are 1.5 times more likely to be killed in a traffic accident than occupants in a passenger vehicle on every trip.
