Las Vegas Man Sentenced in Fatal Drunk Driving Accident

The Associated Press reports that a 25-year-old Las Vegas resident has been sentenced to 24 to 80 years for his role in a 2012 drunk driving accident that killed four pedestrians.

Four Dead in Fatal Drunk Driving Accident

  • According to witnesses, Gary Lee Hosey Jr. was traveling in excess of 100 mph when his car bottomed out while crossing an intersection, and crashed in to a regional transit bus stop.
  • The collision resulted in the deaths of Gerber Ayala-Tomasino Jr., 24, Johnni Garner, 49, Margoth Gonzalez, 65, and Hyon Cooley, 47.
  • Hosey’s four passengers and three other pedestrians at the bus stop also suffered injuries including paralysis and permanent brain damage.
  • A criminal complaint alleges that Hosey had a blood-alcohol content of .08 percent. Blood testing also showed marijuana in his system.
  • Hosey pleaded guilty to five counts of DUI causing death or substantial bodily harm.
