A :Las Vegas pedestrian was seriously injured in a suspected DUI accident early Monday morning.

Details about the Las Vegas Pedestrian Accident

The Las Vegas Sun is reporting that a 64-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident that involved a suspected drunk driver early Sunday morning in the Central Valley.

Officers reportedly responded to the scene of the accident at about 2:20 a.m. near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard, just west of Maryland Parkway, according to police.

The pedestrian was apparently crossing Charleston Boulevard from the south end to the north end at an area not marked with a crosswalk. When the pedestrian stepped off the median and into the left lane of travel in the westbound lane, he was hit by a 2011 Hyundai Sonata.

The victim was taken to the University Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, 48-year-old Russel Robert of Las Vegas, fled the scene of the accident. Someone who saw the accident followed the Hyundai and called police who later stopped the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for a felony hit-and-run and suspicion of DUIThe accident remains under investigation by the local authorities.
