A police officer in Louisville was involved in a serious car accident and injured.

WHAS 11 News is reporting that it has been confirmed that one officer was involved in a serious car accident. According to police, the accident was ahead-on collision that happened at about 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening near the intersection of Cane Run Road and Richelle Drive, which is near Watterson Expressway.

A spokesperson from the LMPD ha stated that the officer was heading north on Cane Run Road when he rear ended a work truck and then hit a pickup truck. At this time, it is uncertain what caused the officer to rear end the other vehicle until the officer is able to be interviewed.

The officer was on duty at the time of the accident, but it is not known right now whether or not the officer was responding to a call. The officer remains in the hospital in stable condition at this time and is expected to be okay.
