Man Arrested After Intentionally Hitting Pedestrians

A man was arrested in connection with an accident involving two pedestrians.

Details about the Pedestrian Accident

WWLP News is reporting that police in Holyoke arrested a man early Monday evening, who they say admitted to intentionally hitting two people with his vehicle.

Lieutenant Jim Albert of the Holyoke Police stated that a man and a woman were hit by a truck near the intersection of Walnut and Essex Streets at about 5 p.m. on Monday afternoon. The man that was hit by the truck was rushed to the hospital, but is expected to make a recovery. The woman was not seriously injured in the accident.

The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Xzavier Morales then called 911 and told police that he hit the victims and that police could find him on Pine Street. Morales is expected to be charged with two counts of assault and battery with a motor vehicle and for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.
