Man Charged in Mansfield Drunk Driving Collision

A man from Norton, Massachusetts was arrested Monday on vehicular homicide charges following a drunk driving accident that left one man dead.

Details of the Drunk Driving Crash

According to WCVB, 23-year-old Nicholas G. Salvo is suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol when he ran a red light and struck a vehicle driven by David J. Munise, killing the 63-year-old man.

Witness told police that Salvo was traveling at a high rate of speed when he collided with Munise who was making a legal left turn from Route 140 onto Norfolk Street. Munise was on his way to work.

Firefighters were able to extricate Munise from his vehicle, but the man was pronounced after being transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

Salvo was charged with motor vehicle homicide while under the influence of alcohol, failing ot stop for a red light, reckless operation of a vehicle, speeding and a marked lane violation. He was released on a $10,000 cash bail.
