Man Dies in Area Hospital After Being Hit by Police Car

A Bexar County man has died after being hit by a police car Tuesday night.

Details about the Accident involving the Police Car

News 4 San Antonio is reporting that a man was hit by a Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy on Tuesday night on a dark road in Southeast Bexar County.

The accident occurred around 6:45 p.m. at Donop Road and Old Corpus Christi Road.

A spokesperson with the Sheriff’s Department said that the deputy was performing a routine patrol when he hit the victim who had been walking along the side of the road.

Emergency crews who responded to the scene of the accident performed CPR on the victim while they waited for him to be airlifted to University Hospital. The victim was in critical condition when he was airlifted to the hospital.

Contributing factors to the accident may include dark conditions and that the road has no shoulder or sidewalk.

The deputy was not injured in the accident. The victim died at University Hospital late Tuesday night. At this time, no charges are expected to be filed since it was an accident.
