Man Fatally Struck in Work Zone Hit-and-Run

A construction worker from Eustis was fatally injured on Wednesday when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver while working on a pedestrian-safety project in Lakeland, Florida.

Authorities Searching for Lakeland Hit-and-Run Driver

According to the Orlando Sentinel, 44-year-old Shelby K. Shull was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in the 2600 block of South Florida Avenue.

The accident occurred around 2 am, when a dark-colored truck traveling south on South Florida Avenue smashed through a series of orange traffic barrels and hit Shull – Shull’s body was thrown 80 feet. The driver fled the scene.

Police are still searching for the driver and believe the truck may have damage on its front left side.
