One man was killed after being hit by two vehicles on the Long Island Expressway.

Details about the Fatal Accident

Multiple sources are reporting that a driver stepped out of his vehicle after colliding with the median along the long Island Expressway and was fatally hit by two vehicles who were traveling on the highway.

According to police, the accident happened just after 2 a.m. on Thursday morning in Jericho and shut down traffic in the eastbound lanes for several hours. The Nassau County police have stated that the driver of a Toyota Camry hit the median and then stepped out of his vehicle to tie up his bumper.

Police further stated that the man was hit by a Ford SUV and then also hit by a Nissan Altima. The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and his name has not been immediately released pending notification of family.

The driver of the Ford SUV was taken into custody and is facing charges of driving while intoxicated. No charges are being filed against the driver of the Nissan sedan at this time.
