Man Hits Utility Pole, Drives Off Bridge in Jacksonville

A Florida driver has suffered non-life threatening injuries after accidentally driving his car off a bridge in downtown Jacksonville.

Details about the Bridge Accident in Jacksonville

According to First Coast News, police are currently investigating an accident in which a car drove off the Hart Bridge ramp near Adams and Bryan streets near the Sports Complex in downtown Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office told First Coast News that the accident happened at about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday when the car was headed west on the highway when it hit a light pole and veered nose-first off the roadway and into the pavement below.

The man that was driving the car had to be cut out of the vehicle by the Jacksonville Fire Rescue and was rushed to the hospital. Police said that when they last checked, the driver’s injuries were not life-threatening.

A crew from the Florida Department of Transportation was dispatched to inspect the roadway for any damage but reported that there was no structural damage to the ramp, but only to the light pole. The bridge remains open to drivers.
