Waco authorities are investigating a fatal accident that left one man dead early Monday morning.

About the Fatal Waco Accident

According to KWTX 10 News, Jason Carl Sorley died of complications and serious injuries sustained when the vehicle he was a passenger in crashed on China Spring Road in Waco, Texas.

Preliminary reports indicate Sorley was a passenger in a Toyota Scion that was traveling at a high rate of speed along Wortham Bend Road around 12 am. The driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a ditch, cuasing the vehicle to roll through a busy intersection.

Sorley, 31, was thrown from the passengers’ seat of the Scion when it flipped. Sorley was taken via life flight to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center with critical injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Ayden Mathew McKenna, 24, was the vehicles driver who also sustained injuries although far less traumatic than Sorley’s.

Further police investigation suggested that excessive speed and alcohol consumption played a role in the fatal crash. It was determined that Sorley was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
