According to KHOU, Fort Worth resident, Jeff Panfil, is suing two former police officers claiming that the two men fled after colliding with his vehicle.

Details on the Fort Worth Hit and Run Accident

  • The accident occurred at 2:14 a.m. August 24, 2013 when, according to police reports, a red Dodge ran a red light and collided with the victim’s vehicle which was carrying three other people.
  • The driver and passenger of the red Dodge abandoned their vehicle and fled from the scene.
  • The officer investigating the scene stated in his report that alcohol may have been a factor.

Two Former Police Officers Named in Lawsuit

  • Sgt. Chad Peabody and Detective Jason Montgomery are currently being investigated in connection to the hit and run accident, and are now being named in a lawsuit asking for at least $100,000 in damages.
  • The lawsuit alleges that the two off duty officers had no regard for the passengers of the plaintiff’s car as they did not check to see if there had been injuries or fatalities.
  • The lawsuit also claims that Sgt. Peabody and Detective Montgomery contacted another officer to set up a “getaway car.”
  • Police are still investigating the incident, and neither officer has been arrested or charged.
