Man Tries to Flee Country After Hit-and-Run

According to Khou.com, a suspect in a hit-and-run case in Arlington has been taken into custody after attempting to flee the country.

Hit-and-Run Suspect Apprehended at Texas Airport

The suspect, Omar Bashir Mohammed, was captured at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport after police notified U.S. Customs and Border Protection that Mohammed was a suspect and a flight risk.

Mohammed was intercepted shortly before he left the U.S. on a plane bound for Jordan.

Police identified Mohammed as a suspect from an anonymous tip that let investigators to the vehicle, a blue Honda Civic, that was involved in a hit-and-run collision on Saturday. There was damage to the Civic’s windshield, bumper, hood, and wheel well. The car was found at the suspect’s father’s home.

The man injured in the hit-and-run accident, 73 year old Terry Pinkston, has recently been released from John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with visible stitches, bandages, and bruises.

Good Samaritan Bill Komar, a man who lives in an apartment complex near the scene of the crash, came out of his apartment and offered aid to Pinkston after the crash, as Mohammed had fled the scene.

Pinkston is happy that the man responsible has been found and is being charged with failure to stop and render aid. Although a bond was set up in his name, it was revoked due to the fact that he allegedly tried to flee the country.
