Man Who Posted Video Confession Online Pleads Guilty to DWI

According to KRIS-TV, the Ohio man who posted an online video in which he confessed to causing a fatal wrong-way collision has followed through with his promise of pleading guilty for his crime.

Ohio Man Posts Video Confessing to DWI Collision

  • Powel, Ohio resident Mathew Cordle posted a video on the social site “Because I Said I Would” in which he confessed to causing a collision which killed Vincent Canzani, 61.
  • In his confession, Cordle acknowledge that he was intoxicated, was driving the wrong way and planned to “take full responsibility.”
  • Cordle states he was not looking for leniency through his posting of the video, but wanted instead to warn others of the dangers of drinking and driving.
  • The video soon went viral, receiving over 2 million views.

Cordle Pleads Guilty to Aggravated Vehicular Homicide

  • Cordle fulfilled his promise to the victim’s family and to the public Wednesday when he pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide.
  • Cordle’s attorneys have asked that Cordle be released on bond before sentencing so he may take part in interviews over drunk driving.
  • The twenty-two-year-old faces two to eight and a half years in prison.
