Meningitis Case Confirmed in Dallas Texas
The first case of fungal meningitis in Texas has been traced to a Dallas clinic which received vials of Methylprednisolone Acetate manufactured at New England Compounding Center (NECC).
The steroidal back injections, produced at NECC, have been linked to a nationwide fungal meningitis outbreak that has left more than 200 sickened and more than a dozen dead across several states.
Dallas Clinics Injected Drug for Back Pain
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Dallas County Department of Health and Human Services, the steroid linked to the outbreak was administered to 114 patients at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake and 10 to 15 people patients at Dallas Back Pain Management.
At least once case of fungal meningitis has been confirmed in a patient who received the steroidal back injection at Dallas Back Pain Management.
