Mercedes-Benz has recently recalled approximately 126,000 cars in the United States due to reports of airbag control unit malfunctions.

About the Mercedes-Benz Airbag Recall

According to a report from Mercedes-Benz and reported by the New York Times, the control unit for the airbag can malfunction, causing them to fail to deploy in a crash or deploy without a crash.

The National highway Traffic Safety Commission recommends that consumers bring the car to the nearest Mercedes-Benz dealer to be inspected and replaced.

Mercedes was aware of a few instances of airbags deploying without a crash globally since 2013, but none in the United States until this past year. The recall comes after study of an inadvertent deployment last month.
