MGM Worker in Las Vegas Falls to Death
About the MGM Worker Fall
An initial report says the worker, whose identity has not been released, was struck by a maintenance cart and pushed out of a third-floor window. A spokesman for the hotel, Gordon Absher, confirmed that an employee fell from the third floor of a conference room.
Investigators with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will investigate the fatal workplace accident.
Fall Injury Facts
The National Safety Council warns that falls are “one of the leading causes of unintentional injuries in the United States.” These accidents result in roughly 8.9 million emergency room visits each year. Additionally, the NSC notes that falls were the cause of about 25,000 fatalities in 2009 alone. Fall-related fatalities are four times more likely for seniors aged 65 and older.
