Details about the Fatal Accident

The Miami Herald is reporting that an accident happened on Friday morning involving just on vehicle on the Florida Turnpike heading south near the Red Road exit. Although the accident was reported to have been fatal, no lanes were shut down during the morning commute.

Officials are currently investigating the accident, in which an SUV left the road and crashed into a group of trees on the side of the highway.

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol have not released the identity of the woman who was killed, but have indicated that she was in either her late 30s or early 40s.  Troopers have also said that they do not expect alcohol to have played a role in the accident, but that she may have fallen asleep or suffered a medical emergency at the time of the accident.
