According to CBS Local News, a mother was killed and her daughter critically injured while attempting to cross the street Sunday evening in Voorhees, NJ.

Details of the Fatal Accident

Police say the accident happened at approximately 8:21 p.m. Sunday evening at the intersection of Kresson and Evesham Road. Serafina Fel, 63, and her daughter Anna Veksler, 38, were in the process of crossing the street when a Ford Ranger pickup truck struck the women.

Fel was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. Veksler was also taken to the hospital where she is in extremely critical condition from what are described as life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck did stop and provide police with a statement. Although the accident is under investigation, police believe distracted driving was a factor.
