Multi-Car Pileup Leaves One Dead in Michigan

Jonathan Hernandez11 months ago

The Weather Channel is reporting that paramedics were able to revive a victim of a pileup near Hartford, Michigan on Sunday.

Details about the Multi-Car Pileup

According to the Weather Channel, there was a large multi-car pileup on Sunday near Hartford, Michigan on I-94. During the pileup, paramedics performed life-saving measures on their way to the hospital that saved one person.

Valley News Live reports that a semi-trailer was rear ended by a compact car. A passenger in the compact car died at the scene of the accident.

The pileup involved about 44 cars and 6 semi-trucks. Weather conditions at the time of the accidents are most likely the cause. Temperatures in the single digits on Sunday with wind chills in the single digits below zero likely contributed to slick roads and the pileup.

One police deputy was taken to the hospital after sustaining minor injuries after he was hit by a vehicle while trying to help another injured person.

Other Michigan Pileups

In January of 2015, there was a much larger pileup that took place along the same interstate, according to WOODTV:

  • In Battle Creek, Michigan in January 2015, there was a massive pileup that consisted of 76 semi-trucks and 117 passenger vehicles.
  • During this pileup, one person was killed and another 22 were sent to the hospital.
  • The pileup took two days to clear.
