Multi-Vehicle Trucking Accident near Cisco Leaves 1 Dead

Eastland County authorities are investigating a four vehicle accident which left one person dead Friday morning.

Details of the Fatal Accident

KTXS reports that the incident occurred around 11:30 am Friday morning when a pickup truck traveling southbound along Highway 183 was struck by an 18-wheeler traveling the opposite direction.

The male driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene; however, authorities have not yet released his identity.

Authorities said an SUV and a pickup truck were also involved in the collision.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, though wet roads are believed to be a contributing factor.

  • 3,534 people were killed in auto accidents in Texas in 2014 – an 3.7-percent increase over the 3,408 deaths recorded in 2013.
  • 1,974 of the 2014 deaths were attributed to accidents that occurred in rural areas of the state and 581 deaths were attributed to head-on collisions.
  • An additional 237,941 people were injured in auto accidents in Texas in 2014, averaging to one injury every 2 minutes and 13 seconds.
  • A reportable crash was estimated to have occurred every 66 seconds.
