Jasjit Mundh2 years ago

This Tuesday morning, 16 people were injured after a school bus tipped onto its side in Waxahachie.

About the School Bus Accident

According to NBCDFW, 20 children were on the bus that crashed near the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 879 and Ike Road.

The bus was on its way to Clift Elementary School when something in the back of the bus distracted the driver, causing him to look away from the road. The rear wheel of the bus then left the road when making a turn. The driver then swerved into the opposite lane, overcorrected, and the bus tipped into a ditch.

According to Damien Beck, 11, who was on the bus, everybody flew towards the top of the bus because no one was wearing seat belts, as there were none on the bus.

Children’s Medical Center of Dallas treated eight children for head and neck pain and abdominal injuries. The bus driver and seven other children were sent to Baylor Medical Center for treatment. 12 children were hospitalized, and all have been sent home except for one.

All the children are thought to be 10 and 11 years old. The police have not identified the driver, and the bus was the only vehicle involved in the accident.
