A New Jersey man was hit and killed while crossing the highway in Newark after his car became disabled.

Details about the Pedestrian Accident in Newark

Multiple sources are reporting that a man whose car crashed in an interstate highway in northern New Jersey was killed after he tried to cross the roadway on foot.

According to New Jersey State Police, the accident happened at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on a part of the Interstate 78 in Newark.

New Jersey State Police say that the man was driving east in an express lane in Newark when he lost control of his vehicle, crashed, and the vehicle became disabled in the far right lane. After the car became disabled, the man got out of the vehicle and was walking across the interstate when he was hit by another vehicle.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. His identity has not been released. As of now, no other injuries have been reported and no charges have been filed. Investigations into both of the accidents are ongoing.
