New York Man Killed in Accident with DOT Vehicle

A man from New York was killed when his vehicle collided with a Department of Transportation vehicle.

Details about the Fatal Accident

Multiple sources are reporting that a New York man was killed after the box truck he was driving collided with a Connecticut Department of Transportation vehicle along State Route 8.

61-year-old Daniel Cormier was pronounced dead at the St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport after the accident that happened on Thursday. Trooper from the state police were sent to the scene of the accident near Exit 20 in Seymour at about 12:10 p.m.

A spokesperson from the Department of Transportation has stated that crews were patching up potholes along Route 8 when Cormier slammed into the back of a crash truck, which is meant to protect the workers working on the road.

State police have stated that the Department of Transportation vehicle had an illuminated sign that was warning traffic of a right lane closure further down the road. The driver of the Department of Transportation vehicle was shaken up but uninjured in the accident.
