An Odessa woman is currently free on bond after being arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety and charged with intoxication assault, which is a third-degree felony. According to reports, she was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Wednesday of last week.

About the Odessa DWI Accident

The accident occurred at Interstate 20 and Farm to Market Road 1936.

The Odessa American reported that the woman, 28-year-old Andrea Nabarrette Andrade, was driving a 2013 Ford Explorer westbound on the eastbound exit ramp of Interstate 20. The release further states that a semi-trailer driven by 60-year-old Qui Ji Ming of Houston was headed east in the eastbound lane of Interstate 20.

Andrade was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and travelling the wrong direction on the one-way road when she tried to turn around and caused the semi-trailer to hit her Explorer from behind.

One of the passengers in the Explorer, 6-year-old Alyssa Ortega, suffered a skull fracture but is expected to be okay. The other passengers in the vehicle, Donovan Henson, 14, Alaina Arnold, 9, Angelina Arnold 8, and Kaydinca Asad, 11, were not injured.

According to police, Alyssa Ortega was not properly restrained in the vehicle, although the rest of the passengers in the car were wearing their proper restraints.
