Jonathan Hernandez7 months ago

FOX News San Antonio is reporting that an off-duty deputy from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office was killed in a motorcycle accident that happened on Saturday. According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of a truck lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 before Schertz Parkway at about 2 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Details about the Fatal Accident

Bexar County Sheriff’s Office deputy Richard Hammock was riding his personal motorcycle at the time of the accident when he collided with the wrecked truck. Officer Hammock died on impact.

This accident comes just two months to the day that county officials say Officer Hammock was involved in another fatal accident in which 33-year-old Lawrence Kindel was killed in an incident near Old Corpus Christi Road. Officials say that Hammock was behind the wheel of the vehicle at the time of the accident and was going more than 20 miles over the speed limit in the area.

Officer Hammock did not face any charges in that incident.

The driver of the truck that wrecked on Interstate 35 in this accident was taken to the San Antonio Military Medical Center in stable condition. The Texas Department of Public Safety has taken over the investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
