An off-duty firefighter was killed in a Vancouver, Washington accident.

Details about the Fatal Pedestrian Accident

KGW news is reporting that an off-duty firefighter was hit and killed by a vehicle while walking in Vancouver on Thursday evening, according to police.

The police have further revealed that the accident happened on the 500 block of NE 112th Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Investigators who are working the accident said that a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old driver hit the pedestrian. The motorist remained at the scene of the accident after the crash and has been fully cooperative in the investigation.

The pedestrian was immediately rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to authorities. The victim was identified as a 29-year-old firefighter from Vancouver. The name of the firefighter has not been released until the family of the victim has been notified.

Neither alcohol nor speed appear to have been factors in the deadly accident. No arrests have been made at this time, but the investigation remains ongoing.
