A police officer has been hospitalized after an early-morning weather-related accident in San Antonio.

Details about the Weather-Related Accident

KENS 5 News San Antonio is reporting that a police officer from the San Antonio police department was recovering on Wednesday after a one-vehicle accident on the north side of the city that happened during the overnight hours.

According to authorities, the officer was off-duty at the time of the accident and was heading home from work, and the accident was likely caused due to inclement weather.

San Antonio police have confirmed that the officer lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the guardrail that leads to the 410 East entrance ramp right after Vandiver.

The police officer was taken to SAMMC with non-life threatening injuries.

Police further stated that they believe the officer had to have hit a patch of water on the highway before he hydroplaned and crashed the vehicle.

Crime scene investigators were present at the scene of the accident and were preforming routine procedures.

No other details, such as the condition of the police officer were made immediately available.
