An off-duty police officer was injured in an accident in Corpus Christi.

KIIITV News is reporting that an off-duty police officer is currently recovering from his injuries he sustained in an accident that happened on Friday, when he was attempting to help a family with a broken down vehicle in Flour Bluff.

Senior Officer Travis Pace and his wife were driving in Flour Bluff when they saw a stranded motorist on Friday along Glenoak Drive and pulled over their vehicle to help. While the off-duty officer was helping the stranded motorist, another vehicle crashed into the stalled vehicle and pinned the officer-s legs between the van and his truck.

Officer Pace stated that he credits a nearby resident for warning him about the oncoming vehicle, and says that the man saved his life.

Pace is still recovering in the hospital but is expected to be okay. Officer Pace hopes to reconnect with the driver he was helping as well as the man who warned him about the oncoming vehicle and saved his life.
