Off-Duty Police Officer Killed in Collision with NCDOT Truck

According to WRAL News, an off-duty police officer was struck and killed on Tuesday morning by a North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT) truck in Tarboro, North Carolina.

Details of the DOT Truck Crash

Initial reports say the accident happened on Tuesday morning around 8:50 a.m. Off-duty police officer Charles Bryce Johnson, 46, was killed when an NC DOT truck crossed over the center line on N.C. Highway 111 and collided head-on with Johnson. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, William Allen Harrell II, 29, was uninjured and is expected to face charges in connection with the accident. Harrell was reported as having just left a maintenance yard driving the excavator when the accident occurred.
