Ohio Authorities Investigate Work Zone Hit-and-Run

Ohio State Patrol is seeking information after a construction worker was struck by a vehicle on Monday.

Details of the Ohio Accident

According to WTOV 9, the accident occurred along Barton Road in Belmont County around 2 p.m. when a woman who was directing traffic was struck by a vehicle. The driver immediately fled the scene.

After being taken to a local hospital, it was determined the woman had suffered a broken leg.

Since there is no description of the driver or the vehicle that was involved in the accident, Ohio State Patrol is searching for information from the public.

Any information should be reported to the state patrol or the Crimebusters Tip line (900-862-BUST).

  • 87,606 crashes were record in work zones in 2010.
  • 576 deaths and 37,476 injuries occurred in work zones in 2010.
  • 70% of road construction site fatalities recorded between 2003 and 2007 occurred between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
