One Child Killed, Another Injured in McDuffie County Accident

A 6-year-old boy was killed in an accident on Interstate 20 in McDuffie County on Thursday.

Details about the Fatal Accident Involving the Child

WRDW News is reporting that an afternoon accident on Thursday in McDuffie County took the life of a six-year-old boy, according to the George State Police.

The Georgia State Patrol further indicated that a Chevrolet pickup truck was heading west on Interstate 20 near mile marker 170 when it crossed over the fog line and hit the rear end of a tractor-trailer that was parked on the north shoulder of the interstate.

At the time of the accident, the pickup truck was being driven by 63-year-old Bertha Sue Duff, who sustained non-life threatening injuries. Her grandson, 6-year-old Ayden Sizemore, was in the vehicle and was killed in the accident. Her 10-month-old great-granddaughter, Madelyn Templeton was also in the vehicle at the time of the accident and sustained minor injuries.

Multiple lanes along Interstate 20 were shut down but were late reopened after the wreckage was cleared.
