Destiny Baker3 years ago

A woman was killed on Sunday after her SUV was struck by a drunk driver along Texas 105 on the edge of Lake Conroe.

Details of the Fatal Montgomery Crash

Authorities in Montgomery County responded to the scene around 1 am where they found a green Mitsubishi SUV upside down and almost completely crushed with four occupants still inside.

The San Antonio Express-News reports that the SUV had stopped at a light at the intersection of Texas 105 and Navajo when it was rear-ended by a white Dodge 3500 pickup traveling at a high rate of speed. The pickup then collided with a utility pole, and the driver allegedly fled the scene.

It is believed that the woman who died in the accident was sitting in the back of the Mitsubishi with her husband. Their two teenage grandchildren were seated in the front. The impact from the crash broke the frame of the SUV and caused the outer door skin of the SUV to detach from the vehicle..

Driver Arrested and Charged

The driver of the pickup, 27-year-old Wayne Compton, was later arrested after checking into a Conroe hospital with a broken arm.

He has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in addition to intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, two counts of aggravated assault, and on charge of failure to stop and render aid.
