One Dead in Suspected Drunk Driving Accident

A Houston resident is dead following a suspected drunk driving accident at the intersection of West 43rd Street and Rosslyn Road around 11:00 pm Thursday.

Suspect Driver Was Fleeing from Another Accident

ABC-13 reports Samuel S. Johnson was fleeing from a different accident when the fatal crash occurred.

Preliminary police reports indicate Johnson was traveling down Ella Road when he rear-ended another vehicle. Johnson then sped away from the scene, traveling along West 43rd before running a red light and crashing into a black Chevy Tahoe.

The driver of the Tahoe, 40-year-old Chris Lopez, was transported to Northwest Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Lopez was on his way to work when the accident occurred.

Johnson was arrested on charges of DWI and failure to stop and give information.
