One Killed, Another Injured in DUI Accident

A man has been charged with DUI in accident that killed a teenager.

Details about the Fatal DUI Accident

WSPA News is reporting that a man has been charged with felony DUI after being involved in an accident that killed a teenager and seriously injured another person, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

According to police, the accident happened near Landrum along Highway 14 and Lexington Road at about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. 42-year-old Harley Simms Beck, of Fountain Inn, was driving his 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck when he rear ended a motorcycle.

19-year-old Chloe Allison Duncan was a passenger of the motorcycle at the time of the accident, according to trooper. Duncan was then ejected from the vehicle. The victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was killed at the scene, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The driver of the motorcycle, was also not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and had to be airlifted to the Spartanburg Regional Hospital to be treated for his injuries. He remains in critical condition, according to the hospital.

Harley Beck has been charged with felony DUI including death and felony DUI causing great bodily injury according to the highway patrol.
