One Man Dead in Three-Vehicle Accident

One person has died in a three-vehicle accident in Accomack County.

13 News Now is reporting that an accident involving three vehicles has resulted in the death of one person.

According to the Virginia State Police, the accident occurred on the northbound side of Route 13 at Daugherty Road in the Tasley area.

Police say that a 2006 Ford F-150 was being driven by 63-year-old Linda D. Stevens of Accomack County. She was traveling along Daugherty Road and turned onto Route 13 directly into the path of a 2000 Chevrolet van.

When the passengers were exiting the vehicle, the van was then hit by a 2005 Freightliner TT that was heading north along Route 13.

One of the passengers of the Chevrolet van who was sitting in the back seat, 19-year-old Austin C. Rainey, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, was killed during the impact of the accident.

The Chevrolet van was occupied by four other passengers who were able to exit the van before the impact happened.

Linda D. Stevens was charged with failing to yield the right of way.

The family of the victim has been notified of the accident by the authorities.
