Police have now identified the man who was killed in a serious crash outside of Hagersville. Ontario.

About the Fatal Accident

According to reports, 26-year-old Mathieu Guimond was involved in a crash where one vehicle flipped over and another became submerged in a quarry following a two vehicle crash.

The crash occurred around 7:45 am Friday at the intersection of Sandusk Road and Concession Road. In the aftermath  an SUV was flipped on its roof in a ditch along the road, while a pickup truck was submerged in a water-filled quarry a few feet away from the SUV.

The truck stayed underwater until around 4 pm when authorities  hoisted  it out of the water by a heavy crane, with the aid of a police dive team in the water.

Police said Guimond's body was found inside the black 2014 GMC Denali, in the driver’s seat.

The two occupants of the SUV, a 52-year-old female and the passenger, a 22-year-old female were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Police believe speed was a factor in the collision, which remains under investigation.
